Swaddlebees Simplex One Size All-in-One Diaper

The diaper has pocket openings on both ends that allows you to increase the diaper’s absorbency by adding extra inserts.  This also enables any extra stuffed-in doubler or insert to agitate itself out in the wash.  Half of the soaker pad is attached, while the other half also comes out through one of the pocket openings during the washing cycle.

It is made with a waterproof outer layer and 10 layers of 100% cotton birdseye fabric in the wet zone.

The unique thing about this diaper is that it has an attached stay-dry microfleece layer on the soaker pad that will keep your baby’s bottom dry. To use this feature, simply pull out the other half of the attached soaker pad and lay it over the body of the diaper.

If you prefer all natural fabrics touching your baby’s skin, simply keep the unattached portion of the soaker pad tucked inside the pocket.

I recently gave my friend 6 regular size Better Fit prefolds that we no longer needed. At $2.75 each, these prefolds cost me $16.50 plus tax. Her baby is 6 months old, so let’s look at what 6 prefolds means to her.

Let’s say those 6 prefolds are used 3 times a week. 18 diapers per week for four weeks per month adds up to 72 diapers a month. Over 12 months, that’s 864 diapers a year. Baby girl will probably be in diapers for 2 more years, so that’s 1,728 diaper changes for just those 6 prefolds. Disposable diapers cost about 30 cents each or more, putting us at:

6 prefolds x 3 uses a week x 4 weeks per month x 24 more months in diapers x .30 cents = $518.40 not spent on disposable diapers.
